Download older versions of GitLab

gitlab-ce was not found

gitlab-ce not found error

If you are on the latest version of your OS, let’s say Ubuntu 24.04.5 for example and you want download an older version of GitLab not included in the default package repository, you can download the .deb file and install it manually. You would want to do that because upgrading to the latest version of GitLab requires one to update selected older GitLab versions.

Access the GitLab Package Manager via this link: https://packages.gitlab.com/ui/browse/gitlab to retrieve the needed version.
For example, you can download version gitlab-ce_14.9.5-ce.0_amd64.deb from the focal distribution of Ubuntu:

    1. Download the .deb file wget https://packages.gitlab.com/gitlab/gitlab-ce/ubuntu/focal/pool/main/g/gitlab-ce/gitlab-ce_14.9.5-ce.0_amd64.deb
    2. Install it dpkg -i gitlab-ce_14.9.5-ce.0_amd64.deb

Repeat until you install the latest version.
Remember to backup between upgrades
